2.1 Health Effects - Acute

Swallowed

Adverse effects are not expected.

Eye

Irritating to eyes.

Skin

Contact with skin is not expected to cause irritation.

Inhalation of dust or powder may result in respiratory irritation.

Experimental teratogenic and reproductive effects have been observed.

2.3 First Aid

Swallowed

If swallowed, rinse out mouth and then drink 1 - 3 cups of water. If symptoms persist seek medical attention.

Eye

If eye contact occurs, rinse thoroughly under running water for 15 minutes with eyelids held open. Seek medical attention.

Skin

If skin contact occurs, wash thoroughly under running water. Remove contaminated clothing and launder thoroughly before reuse.

Inhaled

If discomfort is felt after inhalation of dust or powder, remove affected person to fresh air and seek medical attention.

3.1 Exposure Standards

Ensure workplace is well ventilated to maintain air concentrations below exposure standard, including the use of local exhaust ventilation.

3.3 Personal Protection

Avoid inhalation of dust. Avoid contact with eyes. Wear protective goggles, protective gloves (PVC, Rubber, Neoprene, Nitrile, Viton) dust mask (if exposure standard is likely to be exceeded). Wear approved industrial clothing to minimise exposure to product. Wash hands and face thoroughly after handling and before work breaks, eating, drinking, smoking and using toilet facilities.

Spills

Clean up personnel should wear full protective clothing including breathing apparatus. Do not let product enter drains or water courses. Avoid dust formation.

Dispose of in accordance with all Local, State and federal regulations by incineration at an approved waste disposal facility. Small amounts of waste can be disposed together with industrial waste to approved landfill in accordance with regulations.

4.4 FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD

Fire / Explosion

Risk of dust explosions. Take protective measures against static discharges, particularly when handling or decanting large quantities of product. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of nitrogen oxides. No incompatible substances or hazardous reactions have been observed with this product, provided that it is stored and handled correctly.

Extinguishing Media

Fire-fighters should wear full protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus. Use water spray/fog, foam or dry chemical type extinguishers. Use equipment/media appropriate to surrounding fire conditions.

Other Information

Experience has shown that the product is difficult to eliminate from effluent treatment plants; however, it has been found to be potentially biodegradable. The degredation activity of the activated sludge in effluent treatment plants should not be affected if this product is dicharged correctly in low concentrations.
